The Smart Ticketing Alliance organised its 4th Workshop on 6 March 2018 in Karlsruhe, in marge of the international conference & exhibition IT-TRANS. The workshop, entitled “Smarter travel becoming real for more and more customers” gathered more than 60 participants.
The workshop’s objective was to present the achievements of the Smart Ticketing Alliance to support the development of interoperable smart ticketing throughout Europe. Travelling seamlessly throughout Europe is one of the biggest challenges we face today. In terms of smarter ticketing, the STA has provided significant results to achieve this goal.
Mohamed Mezghani, UITP Secretary General, opened the workshop highlighting the importance of the role of the Smart Ticketing Alliance and the need to increase the collaboration between UITP and the Smart Ticketing Alliance.
Participants had also the opportunity to learn how interoperability issues have been approached in the e-ticketing schemes in Strasbourg, Aachen and within Luxembourg, France, Belgium and the United Kingdom. The presentations were followed by a roundtable discussion involving the speakers as well as a representative from Wizway to discuss challenges they are facing in their specific regions.
