STA workshop Thursday 27th of October 2016

New era of e- ticketing – how to handle the transition?

Organised by: The Smart Ticketing Alliance, supported by UITP
Venue: UITP Headquarters Rue Sainte-Marie 6, Brussels

■ context

The Smart Ticketing Alliance is working closely with local, national and global bodies to develop the necessary policies, specifications and trust schemes to deliver ticketing interoperability across Europe and beyond. Smart Ticketing is part of the wider process of encouraging the use of seamless mobility on public transport when making “door-to-door” journeys. Smart Ticketing is intimately linked to journey planning, payment and real-time information.

The NFC-enabled mobile phone or device provides a unique new opportunity to service the customer. The Smart Ticketing Alliance is working closely with the Mobile Networks Operators Association (GSMA), the NFC Forum and handset specification and testing bodies to ensure these devices provide an opportunity to and support public transport mobility.

Major savings in the cost of operating smart schemes are expected to come through access to open standards. The Smart Ticketing Alliance is committed to ensuring standards and specifications used are open and freely available for all operators to use.

The Smart Ticketing Alliance was founded in 2015 by the national smart ticketing schemes of UK (ITSO), Germany (VdV e-Ticket Service Gmbh), Calypso Networks Association and AFIMB (L’Agence Française pour l’Information Multimodale et la Billettique). Welcome to this one-day workshop in Brussels!
