About us and our work

Established in 2015 as a successor to the European Interoperable Fare Management Project, funded by the European Commission, the Smart Ticketing Alliance (STA) is dedicated to enhancing access to public transportation.
Rooted in international standards defining fare management systems, our initiative aims to modernize and streamline fare management for both passengers and operators, ensuring safety, security, reliability, and convenience.

The STA actively influences the standards-making process and coordinates the implementation of these standards within the public transport sector.

Recognized globally as a leader in smart ticketing, we engage with stakeholders to foster innovation and interoperability.
