National Digital Ticketing

In recent years, many countries have organized digital ticketing systems at a national level, offering passengers integrated and streamlined ticketing solutions. In regions where such systems are still developing, there is an ongoing dialogue aimed at achieving seamless and interoperable ticketing solutions.

The Smart Ticketing Alliance (STA) is at the center of these discussions, facilitating collaboration and advancing solutions for national digital ticketing.

Stakeholder Dialogue on National Digital Ticketing

Our organization brings together a diverse group of stakeholders from the public transport sector, the ticketing industry, and key influencers to address the challenges and opportunities associated with digital ticketing on a national scale.
To further our efforts in this field, STA has launched a “Stakeholder Dialogue on National Digital Ticketing.”
This initiative aims to engage various stakeholders through a structured dialogue to explore and address key issues related to digital ticketing. Through these discussions, several critical questions will be addressed:

  • PTA Boundaries: What does ‘cross-border ticketing’ actually mean?

  • Technical Borders: Which borders must be overcome to achieve seamless travel from the passenger’s perspective?

  • Political Borders: When do we talk about ‘cross-border’ versus ‘cross-boundaries’?

  • Tariff Borders: How to align fare structures and pricing models?
